Vintage Book Artwork

My stylish monochrome book artwork on vintage music sheet paper is entirely handmade by me in London (not printed). There are ten designs in total and each design is available in a limited edition of 200 with each one being made by hand by me. Given the handmade nature of these artworks and the individual pages of the pre-loved old books, each work is a one-of a kind piece with slightly different sizes (usually slightly larger than an A4 size paper / slightly smaller than A3 size paper). They are all mounted on archival off-white mounts sized 30 cm x 40 cm (about 12 inches x 16 inches) for easier framing and shipping.

Can you give me more details about the Vintage Book Artwork?

Having lived in East London for almost five years (and now South London but who’s counting…), I have fallen in love with all things vintage. The style, the elegance, the fluidity of the designs and of course old books… I love the look and feel of old books. Their history (both what's written on their pages and whose hands they've been in), is really interesting. I love scouring local shops and trader stalls to find music sheet books that might be past their best but look oh so lovely! Rather than leaving them unloved in a dark corner or a lonely bookshop, I use them to create new original pieces of art using black acrylic paint. These one of a kind artworks are dramatic and combine the flowing shape of a stylised flower with the graphic look of music notes. The vintage books are all unique and different - some have words on them and some don't. The combination of the modern sleek black flowers and the timeless beauty of the vintage books creates a unique piece.

I am constantly working on new designs and currently I have created ten flower designs in total – well nine flower ones and one design of wheat (people tell me that’s the more masculine beer drinking design). The vintage book artworks are lovely on their own with a sleek black frame and are especially effective when presented in multiples (two, three, four). Each original hand-made artworks is on vintage music sheets that are all classical music featuring great composers like Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Strauss, Haydn, and others. And each one is entirely hand made by me – from creating the original flower drawings to making the stencils based on those drawings to actually using the acrylic paint – I make each one by hand – a real labour of love (no printing involved in any stage of the process!). Each design is available in a limited edition of 200 signed and dated on the front. Given the handmade nature of these artworks and the individual pages of the pre-loved old books, each work is a one-of a kind piece with slightly different sizes (usually slightly larger than an A4 size paper / slightly smaller than A3 size paper). They are all mounted on archival off-white mounts sized 30 cm x 40 cm.

And with free gift wrapping at no extra charge, my artwork is a particularly stylish way of telling someone how much you care. Why is your artwork different?

There are loads of fantastic artists out there, so why is my artwork different? Well, because it’s exactly that – it’s different! I hear again and again from my customers that they are looking for something different - something they haven’t seen before. Of course my artwork is beautiful (if I may say so myself…) – it is based on a love of art and colour. Of course my work (including my greeting cards and limited edition prints) are the highest quality I can offer and are based on premium materials. And of course I am committed to providing you with the best customer service possible and I am dedicated to ensuring that all my customers are happy with their purchases and would recommend my artwork to their friends. But what really sets me apart is my passion to enable my customers to have as much creative freedom as possible to decorate their world as they want - I have lots of different colour schemes and sizes of paintings to choose from. My range of products is suitable for the budget conscious and for those occasions when you want to splash out. Whether you are looking to purchase an original piece of art that will stay with you for a long time or a budget-friendly way of adding a splash of design and colour to your home, I am here to help.

Where can I see more product photos?

I know that sometimes, shopping online can be challenging (I am after all also an online shopper)… you aren’t quite sure whether the pictures are truly representative of the product, you can’t quite see what the texture of the material is, you’re not quite sure of the size measurements… you’re not quite sure if the colours on the screen are the same as in real life. I want all my customers to be completely happy with their purchase (and to tell their friends about me). And while my return policy ensures that you will only keep what you truly love, I believe in getting things right the first time. And with that in mind, I have included tons of product photos on my site – from just the prints / artworks, to them framed to close-up details. That way, I believe, you can truly get a real idea of how my artwork looks and how it would look in your home.

I would like to commission a bespoke piece of artwork. How do I get started?

I believe that much of contemporary art takes its self very seriously - too seriously in my humble opinion. At the end of the day, art is about beautifying your world - whether it be your home or office or other surrounding. And only you know best what inspires you and what you find beautiful - do you love yellow? Or maybe blue? Would you like to match your sofa colour? Or maybe the curtains that you bought and love? I love the idea that you can choose how to enhance your home with art and I want to give you maximum flexibility to do that. For example, that's why my abstract artwork is able to be displayed vertically or horizontally. Also, much of my work is created in a series with various colour combinations - this means that I am able to do custom work to a specific colour scheme. At the end of the day, I want to give you as much control and decision making power to make your surroundings look just the way you want them. If you are interested in some custom work so you can decorate your home or office just the way you want, contact me for a free no obligation initial consultation. I'd love to hear your ideas about colour combinations, size, orientation (landscape / portrait / other?).

Where do you ship?

All of my products are packaged carefully and beautifully and shipped to you with love from London, UK. Currently, I ship to the UK, France, Italy, Spain, USA, Canada, Australia, and other selected countries. Get in touch if you'd like to know if I ship to your country.

How much does shipping cost?

As a special offer, until the end of the year, I am offering free shipping to UK, USA, Canada, France, Italy, Spain, Germany and Australia for all orders above £50. Customers from other countries, please get in touch and we will send you some shipping options as they are dependent on the size of the work. Please note that applicable custom fees or duties are the responsibility of the buyer.

How do you ship the artwork?

The larger works (A2 or larger) are sold without a mount and without a frame and carefully rolled up in a sturdy cardboard tube and protected with acid-free tissue paper. The artworks that are smaller than A2 are sold with a mount for their protection but without a frame.

I send a confirmation email once your package has been shipped with estimated arrival times. Normally, I use Royal Mail (the UK equivalent of the US Post Office) for the shipping, but I'm happy to use UPS, DHL, or another delivery service if you prefer. I can also provide express delivery for an extra cost. Please note that especially for international shipments, packages may sometimes take a little bit longer, especially during busy holiday seasons or due to customs inspection.

How long does shipping take?

I ship within 1-3 business days of receiving payment (this includes the extra time it might take package the items and get them to the post office). As I use Royal Mail, shipping to the UK is relatively quick (they say 2-5 days but is usually 2-3 days in reality). Shipping to the USA takes a bit longer (about 1-2 weeks on average). If you need express shipping by a particular date, please get in touch and I will check if it can be done and what extra cost (if any) would apply.

Do you do gift wrapping and special cards for presents / gifts?

If you are buying for a gift, please let me know and I can include a message of your choosing on a card, and special gift wrapping, etc. Artwork is a particularly thoughtful and personal gift and I make sure that I package it and present it in that way to the gift recipient.

What is Your Refunds and Exchanges Policy?

I really appreciate your support of my artwork and I want all those who buy my work to be 100% happy with it. I make every effort to ensure that your chosen artwork arrives to you in perfect condition. However, in the unfortunate event that the work arrives damaged, please let me know as soon as you can so we can contact the shipping company. In most cases, I am happy to replace the damaged work with another product of the same type of your choosing (same price) or offer a full refund. In the event that you don't love the artwork once it arrives as much as I hope you do, I am happy to offer a full refund once you ship the artwork back to me in an undamaged condition. Word of mouth is one of my generators of business and I want to make sure that you pay for and keep the artwork only if you absolutely love it!

OTHER

Can you recommend a frame / framers?

Recommending framing is a tricky business as you have to juggle both the protection of the artwork but also be mindful of cost. I always try to make all my work on standard sizes to avoid the high costs of getting custom frames made. Below are the measurements for each work both with and without a mount.

It is difficult to recommend frames that suit all tastes and budgets… I always uses good quality real wood and real glass frames. Often these are modern plain black frames but sometimes they also include one-off vintage frames sourced from local markets. If you’d like to purchase one of my vintage book artworks already framed or if you would like more specific advice on framing services or types of frames, please do get in touch and I would love to help.

If I buy your artwork, do I buy the image copyright as well?

Please note that copyright of all of my artwork, including any digital images of my artwork or any other representations made of my work is retained by me. Please do not use any images for any purpose (other than strictly personal – i.e. emailing friends, for example which you are more than welcome to do of course) without prior written consent from me, which I’m happy to discuss. l maintain the full right to any images of my artworks and may make prints of the original artwork, or use digital copies of the original artwork to show in galleries, shops, etc.

Are you interested in collaborating on special projects?

Yes, absolutely. I'm always keeping an eye open for interesting new projects. If you're interested in collaborating and working with me on a particular project or idea, do not hesitate to get in touch.
